Childhood Neurodevelopment Flow and Educational Success

With the 2024-2025 school year right around the corner, I thought it would be a great idea to bring back this video from 2 years ago.  The reason why many parents come to us when school starts back up is that they are concerned regarding their kiddo struggling in school with communication, focus, transitions, sensory overload, emotional regulation, chronic illness, etc. Often, when we see these kiddos in the office for the first time we have to backtrack to their neurodevelopment and basic health foundations. Much of the time these developing kiddos also had a stressful birth and struggled with one or more of the three basic functions of eating, sleeping and pooping.

Eating, sleeping and pooping are foundational for healthy development and growth! Struggles with these tasks are often a symptom, the reason behind that is almost always an imbalance in the nervous system and mobility. Often with either a stressful pregnancy or birth (even the easiest births can be hard on a newborn) we see kids struggling with a nervous system that is stuck on fight or flight. This sympathetic dominant nervous system leads to struggle with latch and digesting, irregular and difficult bowel movements, and not getting the sleep needed to grow and develop the way God intended. These struggles often lead to struggles with gross motor movement and chronic illness and/or ear infections. Why does this then lead to struggles at school, you may ask?

When we aren’t developing optimally from a young age, we don’t grow out of it, we remain stuck with those struggles and potentially develop different struggles such as  emotional regulation, transitions, focus at school, chronic illness, etc. So as a premier pediatric chiropractic office here in Rochester, NY we look back before we look forward. Starting at the beginning of a child’s health history gives us a deeper understanding. We look for the root cause of these health struggles and not the symptoms. We do this by looking at your kiddo’s health history, assessing their nervous system via our CLA INSiGHT technology that measures the nervous system, muscle tone, and heart rate variability. Then, we use that objective data to make a comprehensive care plan to help address the fundamental neurodevelopment insufficiencies occuring and help get your kiddo back on the road to a balanced nervous system and therefore thriving at home and at school.

Chiropractic is so much deeper than neck and back pain. We see every day how specifically addressing the nervous system we can help get kids back to health and thriving in their everyday environments. If you have questions or want to get your family moving back towards health and thriving please reach out to schedule an initial appointment here at Tree of Life Chiropractic – Rochester.

Be Blessed.
