Starting the Day with Positivity: A Guide for Kids and Parents

Have you ever wondered why some days just feel better than others? A lot of it has to do with how you start your day. When you begin your morning with a positive attitude, it sets the tone for everything that follows. Let’s explore some fun and easy ways to start your day on the right foot! This goes for you kiddos as well as adults..

Morning Habits for a Positive Start

Wake Up with a Smile

Try this: As soon as you wake up, stretch your arms, take a deep breath, and smile. It might feel a little silly, but smiling can actually trick your brain into feeling happier! For you parents, this means your first moment with your kiddos should begin with a smile and some love.

Say Something Nice to Yourself

Before you get out of bed, think of something nice to say about yourself. It could be, “I am a good friend,” or “I’m going to have a great day.” These are called positive affirmations, and they can boost your mood and confidence. Another great option is prayer, thank God for another day and opportunity as well as praying for your friends and family. We as parents can join in in morning affirmations and prayer.

Enjoy a Healthy Breakfast

Eating a healthy breakfast gives you the energy to tackle the day. Foods like fruits, yogurt, and eggs are great choices. Don’t forget about water, after a long night of sleep and rest, our body craves water to get ready for a busy day, Plus, taking a few minutes to enjoy your meal can be a peaceful start to your morning. Parents, having healthy breakfast options help but also making sure your kiddos have plenty of time to sit down and enjoy breakfast before the busyness of school can help set the tone for the day,

Get Moving

A little bit of exercise in the morning can wake up your body and mind. Try some simple stretches, a short walk, or even a quick dance party to your favorite song. Moving around helps you feel more alert and ready for the day. Morning exercise also helps your brain get ready for a successful day at school. This is a great opportunity for us parents to lead by example and get some movement in with our kiddos.

If you have any morning rhythms or routines that you feel help start the day with positivity, we would love to hear them... As always, be blessed and let us know if we can ever help you or your family to live as healthily as possible.
